Betsy Oakland-Garey - Chiropractor
Turning Leaf Chiropractic, P.A.

I am originally from Iowa. I graduated high school from Mason City, but have lived around the entire state since my dad’s career as a pastor moved us frequently. I have a B.A. in sociology from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. (Go Hawks!) Following college, I moved to the Twin Cities to begin chiropractic school at Northwestern College of Chiropractic. Now, I live in Richfield with my husband, Jay. Besides owning my own business, we are very active with our church- spending a lot of time with the Junior and Senior High youth groups.

In May, 2002, Dr. Jill Hammes and I opened Turning Leaf Chiropractic in Lakeville. Our commitment at Turning Leaf Chiropractic is to ‘nurture healthy families.’ We work with all ages of people- from brand new babies to the oldest of grandparents. We believe that it is easier to maintain (and improve) your health than it is to restore health once it is lost. Many of the people we see come to us for overall health and well-being, not solely pain relief. Our goal for each person is an overall improvement in their health and lasting, lifetime changes. I believe that chiropractic is an essential component to a healthy lifestyle.

Most people think that chiropractors are back doctors or bone doctors, but that is only partly true. We definitely get great results with neck and back pain; however we are really doctors of the nervous system. We look at the spine only because it houses and protects the spinal cord, which is the lifeline to the body. Just as dentists look for cavities, chiropractors look spinal imbalances, called subluxations, which can cause not only the lowered state of health that you feel, but may be affecting areas of your body that you are not aware of yet. In chiropractic, we look at your body as a self-healing, self-regulating system that can heal once we find out what may be out of balance and interfering with it.

Turning Leaf Chiropractic’s Mission Statement:
Our mission at Turning Leaf Chiropractic is to serve all families in our community. We provide quality chiropractic care through love and compassion, with the commitment to help each individual achieve optimal health.
